Housing in Marburg

Housing in Marburg

Finding accommodation in Marburg before you arrive in Germany can be a challenge, but we're here to help! Below, you will find a list of options that are available to incoming scientists.

At the start of your stay in Germany, you may rent one of our guest apartments at the MPI-TM. Maximum rent time is 6 months. If you wish to book one, please contact your host.

Guesthouses of the University of Marburg are available for pre- and post-doctoral researchers. For more information, please write to: .

Being a student at the University of Marburg makes you eligible to apply for small apartments and rooms that belong to the University housing. Note that this kind of housing is only available at the beginning of each semester and needs to be booked well in advance. To apply, please contact the International office in July and January each year.

As the number of these accomodation options is restricted, you might want to search for a private appartment or room. The common way to search for accommodation in the private market is via several internet platforms:

WG-Gesucht
Immobilienscout24
Immonet
Meinstadt.de
WG-Liste
Studenten-Wohnung
Kleinanzeigen@ebay
Marbuch-Verlag
Trovit.com
Gewobau-Marburg

You might also find ads on info boards, for example in the Mensa building, offering apartments to share. This is called “WG” or “Wohngemeinschaft”, i.e., you get your own room but share kitchen and bathroom. The rent for this kind of accommodation is usually quite low.

Before you sign a contract, we recommend you to ask a German native speaker to go through the main paragraphs with you. Please keep one copy as it is needed for the Registration office.

For more information, please consult our 'Visitor guide to the MPIterMic Marburg' or contact the International office.
