The first battle between plants and their pathogens occurs at the host apoplast, separated from the plant cytosol by the first layers of plant cell defence: the cell wall and the plasma membrane, which contains receptors that perceive specific signals from the pathogen. The connection of these plant structures plays a key role in defence against pathogens, especially those which grow intercellularly, like Fusarium oxysporum. In this seminar I will present our work focused on the identification and characterization of those first layers of plant response against Fusarium oxysporum.
