With huge enzymes, some of them produce an enormous variety of natural substances that are also important for us. Prof.Helge Bode researches their mechanisms in order to make use of them. His team modifies their ingenious modular system using synthetic biology methods to create new active substances. He vividly explains the importance of microorganisms: how they grow, how they live and why they are so important to us.
