Book a Scientist: Georg Hochberg
„Jurassic Park in the Lab“, Discovery of the first fractal molecule, Evolution of the central Photosynthesis-Enzyme RUBISCO, and more
In cells, we find an overwhelming variety of proteins that are apparently optimized for their specific task. How did evolution produce this diversity? Is it the result of millions of years of fine-tuning, or of random processes? And why are proteins so complicated in the first place? Dr. Georg Hochberg and his team are investigating these questions by resurrecting long-disappeared protein complexes in the laboratory, (almost) like in the film "Jurassic Park", in order to study their structures and functions.
